Paramount has announced that Kenneth Weinstein will serve as ombudsman for CBS News, a move designed to restore balance and transparency at a network long criticized for its liberal bias. The decision follows Paramount’s successful multibillion-dollar merger with Skydance and comes as the company seeks to rebuild trust in its news division.

A Watchdog for Integrity

Weinstein, former president of the Hudson Institute and chairman of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, will act as an independent advocate for journalistic integrity. According to Paramount, he will review concerns from employees and viewers, address questions about fairness in coverage, and ensure the network maintains its commitment to accuracy and accountability.

This new position gives audiences a direct line to challenge bias and hold CBS News to its stated standards. Complaints will be elevated to Paramount President Jeff Shell and TV Media Chair George Cheeks, and if necessary, discussed with CBS News leadership to enact changes.

Trump’s Role in Securing Media Fairness

The appointment comes as part of Paramount’s negotiations with the Trump administration’s FCC to clear its merger with Skydance. President Trump and his allies have been outspoken about CBS News’ slanted coverage during his presidency, and his FCC chair, Brendan Carr, had warned the network could face tougher scrutiny over its broadcast license.

Trump’s insistence on accountability has clearly paid off. The FCC’s approval of the merger was accompanied by Carr’s praise that Paramount committed to offering “a diversity of viewpoints from across the political and ideological spectrum.”

Just weeks before, Paramount also resolved a lawsuit brought by Trump by agreeing to pay $16 million to his foundation, signaling that the media giant is willing to make significant concessions to move forward.

A Trusted Conservative Voice at the Helm

Weinstein’s appointment is a victory for conservatives seeking fairness in media. Having been nominated as ambassador to Japan during Trump’s first term and known for his leadership at the Hudson Institute, Weinstein brings credibility and seriousness to the task of rooting out bias.

  1. Swinging back towards neutrality sounds well and good but satan never gives up. As soon as a democrat administration comes to power CBS and the rest of the MSM will go right back to their ways of doing what they do best —- propagandizing (lying, distorting, etc) for the left. As the Word says, satan is the prince and ruler of this world ——- powers that God has temporarily granted him. Satan works through people as does God.
