The Trump administration is recalling roughly 30 U.S. ambassadors from posts around the world as part of an effort to realign American diplomatic representation with President Donald Trump’s America First agenda, Fox News reported Monday.

According to senior administration officials, the recalled diplomats are not being fired. Instead, they will be reassigned to other roles within the State Department.

“This is a standard process in any administration,” a senior State Department official told Fox News. “An ambassador is a personal representative of the President, and it is the President’s right to ensure that he has individuals in these countries who advance the America First agenda.”

Officials emphasized that the move is not punitive. None of the recalled ambassadors are being disciplined or retaliated against, and all are encouraged to continue serving in new capacities.

“We encourage returning ambassadors to continue serving their country by finding new opportunities within the Department to advance President Trump’s America First agenda,” the official added.

The administration also stressed that continuity of U.S. operations remains a priority. Decisions were made carefully to avoid disrupting American interests abroad.

As a result, no ambassadors are being recalled from countries currently at war or from nations engaged in high-stakes negotiations with the United States.

While presidents routinely recall ambassadors for a variety of reasons, recalling such a large number at once is uncommon. Administration officials told Fox News the scale of the move is intended to expedite diplomatic realignment and ensure U.S. foreign policy is fully aligned with the President’s priorities.
