Trump Admits He And Vance Are ‘Philosophically’ Different On Iran War

President Donald Trump said Monday that he and Vice President JD Vance are “philosophically a little bit different” on U.S. military action against Iran, though he downplayed any disagreement between them.

Asked during a news conference in Florida whether the two differed on the strikes, Trump said, “I don’t think so. We get along very well on this.” He added that Vance “was maybe less enthusiastic about going, but he was quite enthusiastic.”

ABC News previously reported that Vance privately expressed reservations about the strikes before they were carried out, according to a source familiar with the discussions. Once the decision was made, however, Vance shifted his focus to supporting the operation.

Vance, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq and has often voiced skepticism about U.S. intervention abroad, had earlier told The Washington Post there was “no chance” the strikes would lead to a prolonged war with Iran. In a recent Fox News interview, he said the operation “could go for a lot longer.”

Trump said Monday the military campaign is progressing faster than expected.

“We’re achieving major strides toward completing our military objective,” he said. “Some people could say they’re pretty well complete. We’ve wiped every single force in Iran out very completely.”
