House Speaker Mike Johnson is unexpectedly joining Donald Trump today at the Manhattan courthouse where the former president’s so-called hush money trial remains ongoing.
Johnson isn’t the first Republican lawmaker to attend the proceedings alongside Trump. Sens. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), a vice presidential contender, and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) joined the presumptive GOP nominee yesterday.
Former Trump “fixer” Michael Cohen returns to the stand today for his second day of testimony against his longtime boss. On Monday, he testified that Trump personally approved of the plan to reimburse him for purchasing Stormy Daniels’ silence in the closing days of the 2016 presidential election. The pornographic actress had been attempting to sell her story of an alleged fling with Trump.
Cohen served as Trump’s personal attorney for more than a decade.
