President Donald Trump will rally supporters in Georgia on Friday, October 16, campaigning for Republican Senate nominee Mike Collins as the congressman works to close a polling gap against Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff.

The rally will take place at Dalton Municipal Airport in Whitfield County, with Trump scheduled to speak at 3 p.m. ET. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., according to the official event announcement.

The Republican National Committee confirmed the visit to NewsNation, according to The Hill. Republican gubernatorial nominee Rick Jackson will also attend, his campaign confirmed to WSB-TV. Jackson faces former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms in the governor’s race.

A Crucial Georgia Contest

Trump’s visit comes with less than three weeks remaining before the November 3 midterm elections and Collins trailing in the race for Ossoff’s seat.

The Decision Desk HQ/The Hill polling average showed Ossoff at 52.2 percent and Collins at 43.4 percent as of October 10 — a gap of nearly nine points.

Ossoff is the only Democratic senator seeking reelection this year in a state Trump carried in 2024, according to The Hill. Holding his seat is a key part of Democrats’ effort to regain control of the Senate.

The governor’s contest is closer. The Hill reported that DDHQ polling showed Jackson leading Bottoms 49 percent to 47 percent.

Trump’s Busy Campaign Week

Georgia is one stop in a broader campaign swing through states Trump won in 2024.

The president is scheduled to rally Monday, October 12, at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio. He is campaigning for Republican Sen. Jon Husted, who faces former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown, and Republican gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy. The RNC event listing confirms the Youngstown stop.

The campaign’s published schedule also lists a Tuesday rally in Wasilla, Alaska, followed by Wednesday stops in Bullhead City, Arizona, and Kalispell, Montana.

In Alaska, Trump will campaign for Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, who faces former Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola, Just the News reported. The outlet noted that Arizona has several competitive House contests, while Republican Kurt Alme is running to succeed retiring Sen. Steve Daines in Montana.

Friday’s Dalton rally will bring that push to Georgia, where Republicans are seeking to defeat Ossoff and win the governor’s race.
