President Donald Trump said Thursday that he plans to “try” to attend his eldest son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding this weekend, though he acknowledged that mounting international tensions and ongoing responsibilities related to the conflict with Iran may complicate his plans.

Speaking during an event in the Oval Office, Trump joked about being caught in a no-win situation regarding the family celebration, saying the timing is far from ideal as the White House continues monitoring developments overseas.

“He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small, little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it,” Trump said. “This is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things. That’s one I can’t win on.”

Trump then took aim at media coverage, suggesting he would face criticism regardless of whether he attended.

“If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed by the fake news,” he said. “Hopefully they’re going to have a great marriage.”

According to reports, Donald Trump Jr. and fiancée Bettina Anderson are expected to hold a private wedding ceremony in the Bahamas. The event is reportedly being kept relatively small and limited to close family and friends.

Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest child, has long been one of his father’s most visible political allies and surrogates. Over the years, he has played a prominent role in campaign events, fundraising efforts, and conservative political activism, frequently appearing alongside the president and maintaining a large following on social media.

The wedding comes at a time when the Trump family is balancing both public and personal matters. Donald Trump Jr. shares five children with his former wife, Vanessa Trump, whom he divorced in 2018 after more than a decade of marriage.

Earlier Thursday, Vanessa Trump revealed in an Instagram post that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, drawing an outpouring of support and well wishes from followers and supporters.

The family developments are unfolding as President Trump faces a demanding international agenda. The administration has remained closely focused on the escalating situation involving Iran, an issue that has increasingly dominated headlines and placed additional pressure on the White House.
