Trump To Speak With Putin On Tuesday

Trump made the announcement while speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday during a flight from Florida to Washington, D.C., according to The Daily Wire.

“We will see if we have something to announce maybe by Tuesday. I will be speaking to President Putin on Tuesday,” Trump said. “A lot of work’s been done over the weekend. We want to see if we can bring that war to an end.”

On Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the two leaders are set to speak but declined to get into the specifics, stating, “We never get ahead of events” and “the content of conversations between two presidents are not subject to any prior discussion.”

U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff met with Putin in Moscow last week for a several-hour-long conversation that he described as “positive.”

“Back before this visit, there was another visit, and before that visit, the two sides were miles apart in where they were,” Witkoff said in an interview with CNN on Sunday. “The two sides are today, a lot closer. We had some really positive results coming out of Saudi Arabia, discussions led by our national security advisor, Mike Waltz and our Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.”

Ukraine agreed to accept a 30-day ceasefire following negotiations with Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Saudi Arabia last week.

  1. The Cold War ended with the dissolution of the Soviet Union 30 years ago. It’s refreshing to see a President who doesn’t reflexively take a Cold War, or neo-Cold War, stance against the Russians. The U.S. squandered a chance to completely change the dynamic between the U.S./West and Russia in the early 90’s (ref: Jeffrey Sachs). Maybe President Trump and President Putin can reset the relationship, without funny gimmicks, based on normal state-to-state relations. And if it doesn’t work, everybody can go back to breast-beating.

    • I totally agree with you. I believe Putin is not the monster that our media portrays him to be. Both nations can benefit from forming friendly relations and business arrangements. His people seem to like him and respect him as well. That says a lot. The Christian values that Russia has is not looked down upon by Pres. Putin, but rather he too embraces it and encourages his people in those values. (Just as President Trump does.)
