President Donald Trump is set to return Friday to the Washington Hilton, the site of an alleged assassination attempt that disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April, according to reporting first published by The Daily Wire.

Trump is scheduled to address the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual Road to Majority Conference, one of the nation’s largest gatherings of conservative and faith-based activists. The event comes as Republicans intensify efforts to mobilize religious voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

The Faith & Freedom Coalition describes the conference as a premier pro-faith, pro-family event focused on grassroots engagement and voter turnout. Organizers expect thousands of activists, elected officials, and conservative leaders to attend this year’s gathering.

Trump’s appearance will mark his first return to the Washington Hilton since April 25, when authorities say a California man attempted to breach security during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner while armed with multiple weapons.

Federal prosecutors allege that 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California, ran past a security checkpoint at the hotel carrying a shotgun and other weapons before firing at a Secret Service agent. The agent was struck in a bullet-resistant vest and survived. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, First Lady Melania Trump, Cabinet officials, journalists, and other attendees were evacuated as law enforcement responded to the threat.

Authorities later charged Allen with attempting to assassinate the president, assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon, transporting firearms across state lines, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. He has pleaded not guilty. If convicted on the most serious charges, he could face life in prison.

The Secret Service told The Daily Wire that extensive security measures will be in place for Trump’s return.

“At every protective site, the U.S. Secret Service deploys a sophisticated, layered security framework that is custom-designed and continuously evolves to meet today’s heightened security environment,” a Secret Service official said.

The agency noted that the security plan in place during the April incident successfully intercepted the threat before the suspect reached the ballroom where Trump and other senior officials were gathered.

Trump’s return also comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving Allen. Earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden rejected a defense request seeking to remove Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro from the prosecution. Allen’s attorneys argued both officials were potential victims because they attended the correspondents’ dinner, but McFadden ruled they were unlikely to be witnesses and did not meet the legal definition of victims in the case.

The Washington Hilton has long held a unique place in presidential security history. It was also the site of the 1981 assassination attempt against President Ronald Reagan, who was shot and seriously wounded outside the hotel after delivering a speech. Trump’s appearance Friday will therefore place him at a venue linked to two separate presidential assassination attempts more than four decades apart.

The Faith & Freedom Coalition event is expected to feature several top administration officials, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought, and Border Czar Tom Homan.
