WASHINGTON — The Justice Department filed lawsuits Thursday against six states for allegedly blocking federal efforts to access voter registration records — data the agency says is vital to protecting election integrity.
California, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania are named in the suits. According to DOJ officials, the states refused to provide voter data required under federal law.
“Clean voter rolls are the foundation of free and fair elections,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement. “Every state has a responsibility to ensure that voter registration records are accurate, accessible, and secure.”

The suits were filed in federal courts just hours before former FBI Director James Comey was indicted by a grand jury — an unexpected overlap as President Trump continues urging the DOJ to take aggressive steps against what he’s called “systemic corruption.”
At the center of the dispute is voter registration data maintained by state election offices. The data typically includes names, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, and parts of Social Security numbers.
Federal law, according to the DOJ, requires states to make this information available. The department accuses the six states of unlawfully withholding it.
“Clean voter rolls protect American citizens from voting fraud and abuse,” said Harmeet Dhillon, assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division. “They restore public confidence that elections are conducted properly, with integrity, and in compliance with the law.”

This new wave of litigation follows earlier suits filed against Maine and Oregon. Both states also refused to share voter data with federal officials.
In total, the DOJ has requested voter roll information from at least 26 states in recent months. Officials describe the effort as part of a broader push to tighten election systems and prevent abuse.
So far, the targeted states haven’t provided detailed explanations for their refusal to comply. Some state officials said the DOJ had “remained silent” on how the data would be used or secured.
“Instead, they chose to file a lawsuit,” one official said.

California and New York — the nation’s two largest Democratic strongholds — have been the most vocal in rejecting the department’s requests. Their resistance has fueled suspicions among conservatives that left-leaning states are unwilling to subject their voter rolls to outside scrutiny.
Supporters of the lawsuits argue that outdated and inaccurate voter rolls increase the risk of fraud, double voting, and unlawful registrations.
The DOJ appears prepared for a long legal battle. Bondi’s message was unequivocal: “States that don’t fulfill that obligation will see this Department of Justice in court.”
Betting all the states in this suit are full of illegal aliens and dead voters still voting, etc.. And also they are run as the dimiwt nitwits want with all the cheating, lying and stealing. Force them to disclose and clean out their nest of corruption!
And I wonder if this will be posted for all to see. Banning is still happening. Crome is still a big cheat!
YOU WONDER WHY ONLY DEMOCRAT STATES REFUSE TO SEND THE DATA. THEY HAVE TOO MANY DEAD PEOPLE STILL ON THEIR RECORDS AND TOO MANY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. ONLY A FOOL WOULD NOT COME TO THIS CONCLUSION OR WHY ELSE WOULD THEY NOT COMPLY WITH THIS SIMPLE REQUEST.
THEY HAVE CHEATED AND LIED AND STUFFED THE BALLOTS FOR YEARS JUST TO STAY IN POWER AND THE END IS COMING TO THEIR CORRUPTION AND THEIR POWER.
