President Donald Trump’s new White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, is scheduled to make her briefing room debut Tuesday morning, the president announced Sunday.
In an evening Truth Social post, Trump said Zacharia would begin her term Monday, October 12, and hold an introductory news conference Tuesday, October 13, at 9:30 a.m. in the White House Press Briefing Room.
“Katie has been with me, in spirit, from the very beginning, and will do a fantastic job!” Trump wrote.
The announcement follows Trump’s Friday selection of Zacharia, a conservative commentator and former communications adviser to Trump Media and Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social.
In announcing her appointment, Trump highlighted her campaign work in key swing states and praised her longstanding support.
“She has an unblemished record of support, and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning,” Trump wrote Friday, according to ABC News.
Zacharia succeeds Karoline Leavitt, who stepped away from the administration following the birth of her second child and subsequently accepted a role as a Fox News contributor. Zacharia’s communications experience also includes serving as a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security.
In a statement posted on X following her selection, Zacharia emphasized her plans to promote the administration’s accomplishments.
“The work ahead is to continue delivering strong results for our Country and communicating to the American people the major wins that this Administration is making every single day,” she said, according to The Hill.
Tuesday’s appearance will mark her first opportunity as press secretary to deliver that message from the White House briefing room.
